    Description

Unique and Antique Ceramic Goose Head Kitchen Towel Holder.
This towel holder is made from molded pottery with a painted and glazed finish.  It has a slot for a marble that  slides down, but not out of, the goose's mouth.  You push the edge of the towel up into the mouth and when you pull it back down, the marble provides what the patent lawyers call an "interference fit" that holds the towel in place.  Indeed, it was patented in 1921.  See last photo for a screen shot of the patent. You can look up the full patent on the web and read all about it.
This particular version if marked "Pat. Pending" which means it was made between February 1920, when the patent was filed, and January 1921, when the patent was granted.   How's that for help in dating an object.
In fantastic antique condition with no chips or cracks.  A couple places near the wall mount where the glaze missed the edge.  Use two standard wall mount screws (with washers), which are not included.
I will include a marble of the appropriate size.  The green one shown has rolled away from me.  If I find it, it will be that one.  Otherwise it will be marble that works with this piece.
Great collectible and conversation piece for the kitchen collector, the goose collector, the patented gadget collector.
