Description
This is an interesting specimen because, while it is authentically a United States Mint as Philadelphia-struck National Commemorative, which is a medal required to be authorized by Congress passing a law to that effect, it is not all it appears. This is because, while there legitimately were examples of this medal struck in .900 Fine Silver this example is NOT one of these.
This specimen is actually one of those struck in Bronze but then silver-plated by some enterprising person with questionable morals. Yep, that's correct, this has been silver-plated by parties unknown. Kind of funny, but you know what is even more funny????
What is more funny than this crafty little fake is that these have actually become collectible in and of themselves by collectors of the Seattle World's Fair medals. lol
